The Visionary Audiologist Behind 20dB Hearing in Malaysia

Since its inception in 2002, 20dB Hearing has transformed hearing care in Malaysia under the visionary leadership of its founder, Mr. Mok Yong Yaw. As an experienced audiologist, Mr. Mok recognized the urgent need for professional, accessible, and reliable hearing care services nationwide.

 

Driven by his mission to improve the lives of hearing-impaired individuals, Mr. Mok established Malaysia’s first audiologist-led hearing care centre in Taman Maluri, Cheras. Originally known as Gnosis Professional Hearing Services, the centre quickly gained a reputation for providing exceptional care. Building on this success, a second outlet was opened in Seremban in 2003.

 

Over the years, 20dB Hearing has expanded its footprint across Malaysia, thanks to a dedicated team of pioneering audiologists. Some team members even returned from Singapore to contribute to this noble mission. This expansion has made 20dB Hearing a trusted name, offering top-tier hearing solutions and personalized services across the country.

Our Founder

In 2002, Mr. Mok Yong Yaw, the founder of 20dB Hearing, recognized the need for hearing-impaired individuals in Malaysia to access professional care and guidance. Realizing the lack of professionally managed hearing care centers, he established 20dB Hearing, formerly known as Gnosis Professional Hearing Services, with its first outlet in Taman Maluri, Cheras.

 

Driven by a passion for helping the hearing-impaired community, Mr. Mok expanded the network by recruiting pioneer audiologists, including those from Singapore, and opening additional outlets nationwide. Today, 20dB Hearing operates with a philosophy of being a blessing to the hearing-impaired community by providing access to the best products and services delivered by dedicated audiologists.

Mr. Mok holds a Bachelor of Audiology (Hons) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and specializes in speech audiometry, hearing aid fitting, and counseling. Before founding 20dB Hearing, he worked as an audiologist at Siemens Medical Instruments Pte Ltd from 2000 to 2003 and served as a part-time clinical supervisor at UKM Audiology Clinic from 2001 to 2005. In 2008, he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Melbourne. He is now based at 20dB Hearing’s HQ office in Kuching.

Mr. Wong Kin Loon

Country Managing Director (Malaysia)

Mr. Wong is responsible for overseeing the overall strategy and operations of 20dB Hearing in Malaysia. With years of experience in business management and healthcare operations, he ensures the company maintains high-quality standards in every branch and expands its network. Mr. Wong is dedicated to advancing the company’s mission of providing professional hearing care to communities across Malaysia.

Ms. Karen Lai Nyuk Ling

Country Managing Director (Singapore)

Ms. Karen Lai leads 20dB Hearing’s operations in Singapore. With a deep understanding of the healthcare and audiology landscape in Singapore, Ms. Karen has played a pivotal role in driving the company’s expansion in the country. Her leadership ensures that patients in Singapore receive personalized care and access to the latest hearing technologies, fulfilling the company’s commitment to high standards of service and excellence.

Mr. Liew June Kok

Ear Lab Operation Director

Mr. Liew manages all aspects of the Ear Lab operations at 20dB Hearing. His role is critical in ensuring that diagnostic procedures and treatments are conducted efficiently and with the highest level of precision. With his expertise in audiology, Mr. Liew oversees the latest hearing assessments, helping to deliver accurate results and appropriate solutions for patients.

Mr. Leong Yeuu Siong

Cochlear Implant Director

Mr. Leong is in charge of overseeing the cochlear implant programs ata 20dB Hearing. He works directly with patients, guiding them through the process of cochlear implantation and providing post-operative support. His leadership ensures that 20dB Hearing remains at the forefront of cochlear implant technology, offering life-changing solutions to those who need them most.
