20dB Hearing believes it is our responsibility to improve and benefit the surrounding community. Our aim is to enhance hearing health and well-being within the local community.
In this regard, on May 25, 2024, 20dB Hearing participated in the National Hearing and Speech Awareness Program (NaSHA) 2024, organized by the Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (DASLP), Kulliyah of Allied Health Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia.
The theme of this program is ‘Echo of Unity: Promoting Hearing and Speech Awareness Across Multicultural Communities’. The program is held in conjunction with the annual Hearing and Speech Awareness Month campaign celebrated in May.
The program was officiated by the Rector of IIUM, Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Bin Abdul Razak. The objective of this program is to raise awareness about hearing and speech problems among multicultural communities and to ensure the continuity of existing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Among the programs implemented by DASLP are the ‘Hearing Aid Loan Program’ (HALO) and the ‘Special Hearing Aid Program’ (SHAP). These programs are initiated to assist patients experiencing hearing issues and those facing financial difficulties through the donation of hearing aids.
Therefore, 20dB Hearing took the initiative to contribute 10 units of hearing aids valued at RM22,480 for the ‘Special Hearing Aid Program (SHAP)’. We hope that this support and assistance can benefit those in need and subsequently provide good service to the multicultural community.
Additionally, DASLP also invited several community organizations around Kuantan to participate in this program. Among the community organizations involved are the Malaysia Chinese Muslim Association (MACMA), the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organization (PERKIM), the Rotary Club of Metro Kuantan Di Raja, and the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation.
Throughout the program, guests could view awareness videos on speech and hearing. Other activities included hearing screenings, speech and language screenings, vision screenings, and exhibition booths regarding hearing and speech.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (DASLP), Kulliyah of Allied Health Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia for giving us this opportunity to contribute to the community, and we hope to collaborate with more parties in the future.
